GTA was participant of Autumn Academy 2012, 21-23 of November, in Brussels

Chairwoman of Georgian Tourism Association was participants of 3-day full-time study programme in Brussels, focused on Chamber general management and services, in an informal, stimulating and international environment.  Specifically designed for senior executives from Chambers of Commerce and similar organizations. The programme was focused with a session on Chambers success stories and end with a Chambers SWOT analysis.
Courses was covered the following issues:
1. Access to EU programmes
2. Developing a positive image
3. Generating income
4. Helping Small Business & Start-ups
5. Lobby strategies for Chambers
6. Strategic Planning
7. Empowering chambers in the 21st century

Study tour on Legal Issues and Tourism in Austria, 5-10 August, 2012

The aim of the one week study visit of Georgian tourism experts was to introduce the Austrian experience, develop contacts between Georgian and Austrian key officials responsible for the tourism sector in legal matters and to develop contacts between the Austrian and Georgian institutions of tourism and European co-operation.

New project ,,Support for Georgia in the field of protected area development" 2012-2014

5 of June, 2012 was signed the Memorandum of understanding between UNWTO, Agency of Protected Areas , Georgian National Tourism Administration, Georgian Tourism Association and NAKRES. GTA participate in two year project ,,Support for Georgia in the field of protected area development" as a local coordinator. By GTA will be implemented: market and trend analysis, trainings for stakeholders, development of a marketing strategy for each selected reserve, development of an overarching national wide label for biodiversity-based tourism products in protected areas of Georgia, involve in implementation of new tourism product . The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety

22 of March, 2012, held general meeting of Georgian Tourism Association (GTA). On the meeting was discuss about future development plan. New members became travel company NEXT Travel and Hotel Betsy.
GTA became the member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).

Participation to the SABIT program, February 4-March 3, 2012, USA











February 4- March 3, 2012 Chairperson of Georgian Tourism Association Natalie Kvachantiradze participated to The SABIT Program's 2012 Niche Tourism program,
The program was financed by U.S Department of Commerce.
The mission of the SABIT program was to assist in the development of niche tourism in Eurasia by demonstrating industry trends and innovative technologies developed and implemented in the United States. As well to provide American companies with unique opportunity to be directly involved in Eurasia’s transition to a market-based economy by encouraging business relationship with Eurasian Professionals.
18 participants from 9 countries learned about best practices in the U.S. tourism industry. The group visited Washington DC, Seattle in Washington, Phoenix and Flagstaff in Arizona, Gatlinburg in Tennessee.
During the program Georgian Tourism Association (GTA) became the member of Global Sustainable Tourism Council (Washington DC)
invited 18 tourism professionals from 9 countries to learn about best practices in the U.S. tourism industry and encourage international tourism industry connections. The group visited Washington, DC, Seattle, Washington, Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
