It provided an exceptional platform to present Georgia’s 8,000-year-old winemaking heritage — a legacy that positions the country among the world’s most authentic and refined wine destinations. Georgia’s outstanding wine tourism potential was showcased by leading Georgian travel companies.On behalf of the Georgian Tourism Association sincere gratitude for the wonderful opportunity to participate, representing Georgia, in the Porto Wine & Travel Week and the Madeira Island pre-tour.
At the London office of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, a meeting was attended by Teona Nemsitsveridze- head of standards Committee and Madona Megrelishvili General Manager of ibis Tbilisi Airport. During the meeting, cooperation opportunities across Georgia were discussed - particularly the integration of ESG principles, the strengthening of sustainable standards within the hospitality sector, and the sharing of international best practices, in collaboration with the Georgian Tourism Association -GTA, საქართველოს ტურიზმის ასოციაცია Such international cooperation is essential for positioning Georgia not only as a growing destination, but as a responsible and competitive tourism market. GTA continues to actively engage in international dialogue and is working on concrete next steps toward sustainable development.

The event created valuable opportunities to explore AI-driven solutions, revenue optimization tools, smarter distribution systems, and digital technologies enhancing hotel efficiency and overall performance. Participation supported benchmarking international best practices and identifying forward-thinking solutions that contribute to sustainable operational growth and the continued development of Georgia’s hospitality sector.
The Georgian Tourism Association is organizing a 6-month project "Knowledge Marathon for Tourism Professionals". Two meetings have already been held within the framework of the project in February, the topics of which are: 1. Transactional Analysis in Communication | “Will AI Intervene, or Is Humanity More Important?!” 2. GITA and Technoparks: Programs and Opportunities to Support Startups and Innovations
Georgian Tourism Association (GTA) supported to the Hospitality Investment Forum Tbilisi • HIF 2026, wich was held at 18 February, in Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palacee. The event brought together Local and International tourism and hospitality leaders, professionals, investors, developers and representatives of global hotel brands. Panel discussions covered market challenges, new trends and opportunities, local and international experience. As an international investment platform, Hospitality Investment Forum Tbilisi strengthens Georgia’s positioning within the international hospitality market and increasing attractiveness for regional and international investment. Thanks to the team of HIF and especialy Elene Otarashvili, Executive Director of the forum, for the valuable work.
Georgian Tourism Association, at the invitation of the Porto Wine Tourism Week #WineTravelWeek and the Madeira Tourism Department, paid an official visit to Portugal, Madeira Island, 18-22/02/2026, The purpose of the visit was to hold bilateral business negotiations, promote the tourist destination of Portugal specifically Madeira Island and present Georgia's tourism potential, as well as establish long-term partnership relations between the two countries.
Weiser insurance together with the Georgian Tourism Association, presented a new travel insurance platform to tourism sector companies. The meeting held on February 17 was attended by representatives of about 100 private tourism companies in Georgia.
